Lake Strause Dam

Modernizing a private dam

  • Owner: Lake Strause Homeowners Association
  • Location: Lebanon County, PA

About this Project

This project involved obtaining a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) Dam Permit for Lake Strause Dam, which creates an 11-acre private lake in Lebanon County. The process was divided into two phases to ensure the dam complies with current dam safety regulations.

AEG was the Prime Consultant for the project. Phase 1 focused on developing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and design concepts to meet the standards set by PADEP. Phase 2 included detailed design work for the spillway and dam reconstruction, as well as geotechnical investigations and an update to the Emergency Action Plan.

AEG was responsible for overall project management, coordinating with PADEP, managing utility coordination, and conducting environmental assessments. The team oversaw the permitting process and ensuring all technical documentation complies with regulatory requirements for dam safety and environmental protection.
