SR 3002 Culverts

Twin culvert replacements delivered ahead of schedule

  • Owner: PennDOT District 8-0
  • Location: Perry County, PA

About this Project

This project involved the concurrent replacement of two culverts on SR 3002 over Horse Valley Run. As the Prime Consultant, AEG led project management, planning, cost control, and coordination efforts to ensure both culverts were designed and constructed on schedule and within budget.

Environmental services included delineating waterways and wetlands, coordinating with agencies on threatened and endangered species, preparing Level 1B Categorical Exclusion documents, and developing erosion and sediment control plans. AEG also secured individual NPDES permits for each crossing and oversaw Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) reports.

Survey crews, under the supervision of a Pennsylvania Licensed Land Surveyor, performed all field surveys, including PA One Call coordination, culvert feature documentation, and deed mosaic assembly. AEG prepared Intent to Enter letters, surveyed headwalls and wingwalls, and researched property ownership and tax maps.

Geotechnical services included administering a boring contract and performing laboratory testing in AEG’s AASHTO-Accredited and USACE-Validated lab. Final deliverables included Type, Size, and Location (TS&L) reports and Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans for both sites.

Both structures were successfully opened to traffic weeks ahead of schedule.
