An award-winning project that implemented green infrastructure to improve stormwater management in Lower Northeast Philadelphia
- Client: City of Philadelphia Water Department
- Location: Philadelphia County, PA
About this Project
This project was part of the City of Philadelphia’s Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) initiative, Green City, Clean Waters. AEG provided full-time on-site construction inspection services to oversee day-to-day operations for stormwater and drainage improvements, including the installation of three GSI systems.
Inspection responsibilities included coordinating the pre-construction meeting, reviewing plans and specifications, tracking submittals, generating quantities, and documenting progress through photographs and reports. AEG’s inspector attended construction meetings, monitored the schedule, communicated with project managers and designers, and tracked change orders and certified payroll efforts. Additional duties included monitoring utility conflicts, coordinating water valve operations, ensuring compliance with NPDES requirements, and overseeing the contractor’s safety program.
AEG also facilitated access coordination with nearby businesses and residences, conducted the final walk-through, coordinated as-built plans, and managed project closeout. This assignment was part of an open-ended planning and design contract for GSI projects with the City. AEG serves as a subconsultant on several similar contracts and has provided services at 62 project sites throughout the city.
